Today's revision and reflections

Today, revising evasion of the immune system by pathogens; actually a really cool topic, evolution has had a while to come up with these sneaky strategies, and the results are pretty impressive!


Basically learning this topic via a couple of nifty reviews:
This one on viruses (goes into loads of detail on HCMV)
This one on bacteria and viruses; makes an interesting point in the introduction about the top three infectious disease killers being HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria, representing bacteria, viruses and protazoa!


Also done today: went through all of my chatlogs which were lurking in the bowels of /u1/f/kebl3965/irclogs/freenode... deleted the many, many random irc nicks!


Last night, when link-hopping over cyberspace, I discovered this very noble defence of Catholicism. It's refreshing to hear something progressive and reasonable on the subject!


Also Touhou, but that is another story.


Also remembered how much I like Latin phrases; I found a blog with an awesome collection of them; it was fun being able to translate them piece by piece until the meaning of the whole jumped out at me! :D #latinnerd

Further into my procastination now, and I've found: 1. Tamil Wikipedia (something I should probably have thought of in the first place for practicing my Tamil!) On creative endeavours, and self-belief, and vision.

I am thinking aloud here - because I figure that while the first step in creative endeavours might be self-belief, the second step must be vision. I need to know exactly what I want to achieve in order to create it. And right now, this relates to my composition work. The thing is, I know what I want, but in a really abstract way - I want to make something different. Something that doesn't require any tricks or get-out clauses. Something groundbreaking within my limited sphere, I guess. And maybe, because I am giving myself all the time in the world to create this (in the paraxial approximation), that might happen. In the process of writing down these thoughts, they kind of become more crystallised, and I start to actually have ideas about how I am going to achieve what I want. It's like my subconscious is going into overdrive as I type. Hopefully, something solid will come out of this. I can feel the beginnings of an idea. So thank you, Muse.
