Contemplating regular blogging

Since I last posted, many significant events have occurred in my life. I suppose I might well be going through a "quarter-life crisis" - regardless, I've changed (or am trying to change) a great deal of aspects of my life that I was unhappy with. This list includes: the way I ate meat (currently on a firm path towards vegetarianism), the way I procastinated all the time (still working on this, but memrise.com is certainly helping me to procastinate usefully, at least!), the way I seem to pack my days with activities and leave no time for reflection (a recent addition here is di365.org), as well as the way in which I approach friendships and relationships.

One aspect of this mental spring-cleaning involves my blog - I'm still trying to decide on its purpose. The truth is, I really would like to blog regularly, but without deciding on a theme, I doubt I'm going to produce anything interesting with regularity. I guess that's yet another problem I need to solve, but if the kind people of the Internet had any solutions, I'd be very willing to listen! A few ideas spring to mind, including developments in the RCC (inspired by my recent reading of Youcat), neuroscience papers (which I am reading many of this year) and music-related stuff, but as I said, I'm still very much undecided.

Hopefully I'll next post with a theme in mind - I look forward to my future decision!

On creative endeavours, and self-belief, and vision.

I am thinking aloud here - because I figure that while the first step in creative endeavours might be self-belief, the second step must be vision. I need to know exactly what I want to achieve in order to create it. And right now, this relates to my composition work. The thing is, I know what I want, but in a really abstract way - I want to make something different. Something that doesn't require any tricks or get-out clauses. Something groundbreaking within my limited sphere, I guess. And maybe, because I am giving myself all the time in the world to create this (in the paraxial approximation), that might happen. In the process of writing down these thoughts, they kind of become more crystallised, and I start to actually have ideas about how I am going to achieve what I want. It's like my subconscious is going into overdrive as I type. Hopefully, something solid will come out of this. I can feel the beginnings of an idea. So thank you, Muse.
